Diversity of Marine Fungi in Eastern Thailand
نویسنده
چکیده
An investigation on the diversity of marine fungi was carried out by isolating fungi from twigs collected from several beaches in Chanthaburi, Rayong and Chon Buri provinces. Each fungus was directly isolated on half strength potato dextrose agar with 70% sea water. A total of 152 marine fungal isolates were found, comprising 26 genera and 31 species: Algialus parvus, Antennospora quadricornuta, Arenariomyces trifurcatus, Camerosporium sp., Clavatospora bulbosa, Cladobotryum sp., Corollospora pulchella, Dactylospora haliotrepha, Didymosphaeria maritime, Emericella nidulans, E. variecolor, Eurotium sp., Halosphaeria quadricornuta, H. quadriremis, H. hamata, Herpotrichella sp., Kallichroma tethys, Lulworthia grandispora, Lulworthia sp., Marinosphaera mangrovel, Nais inornata, Pestalotia sp., Pleospora sp., Pontoponae sp., Savoryella paucispora, Spirodesmium eupatoriicola, Torpedospora radiata, Varicosporina ramulosa, Verruculina enalia, Zalerion varium and an unidentified sp.1. Pure cultures are being maintained in a culture collection at the Department of Plant Pathology, Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University, Bangkok for further study on enzyme and secondary metabolites, which could be very useful in agriculture and medicine.

Investigation of fungi diversity in airborne dust and their sources identification in Khuzestan province
Background and Objective: Considering the fact that Iran is located in semi-arid climate and the harmful effects of dust storms on different ecosystems, this study aimed to identify and locate dust storms using fungal bio-aerosols (spores) and HYSPLIT model in southwestern region of Iran. Materials and Methods: MODIS satellite images and HYSPLIT model were used to investigate the temporal chan...

Fragmentary, indifferently preserved, and of low diversity plant remains occur in basal part of the Khoshyeilagh Formation, northern Shahrud, eastern Alborz Ranges. The oldest hitherto reported from Iran, the remains are essentially assignable to lycophytes and psilophytes. Additionally, spores retrieved from the Khoshyeilagh Formation with reference to available data on spore-plant relation-sh...

Marine fungi represent a huge potential for new natural products and an increased number of new metabolites have become known over the past years, while much of the hidden potential still needs to be uncovered. Representative examples of biodiversity studies of marine fungi and of natural products from a diverse selection of marine fungi from the author's lab are highlighting important aspects ...
